How To Write Content, Or…What’s In A Fortune Cookie?
ByOne of the biggest challenges we marketers face is how to write content. Providing good useful content for our subscribers, prospects, and community at large is not always easy. To be sure, many of us nag ourselves, saying “gee, I’d better make a new video, or write another article.” That pressure can be daunting, but it doesn’t have to be.
What has worked for me is to take things from your daily life. I’ve learned to find lessons in the little things. Here’s an example…
The other day, I was enjoying a nice healthy stir-fry at one of my favorite local hangouts. And although I try not to eat the fortune cookie, I ALWAYS open one up, and read what’s inside. Here’s what my fortune said:

“The man who doesn’t read good books has no advantage over the man who can’t read them.”
I thought about this for a moment, and found it to be very profound. So many of us have incredible advantages over other people in the world. We have food, money, shelter, and of course LITERACY. We can read, digest, learn and improve ourselves. This is a HUGE advantage over a person who was never taught to read.
I came away from this with two lessons…
First, we should never squander our literacy. If we can read, we should. As Jim Rohn would say “It isn’t what the book costs; it’s what it will cost if you don’t read it.”
Second, finding content is easy, if you are open and aware. If you want to figure out how to write content, look for lessons in your everyday events. Life is more interesting and meaningful when you strive to learn something from everything you do. You never know, you may find a great topic in your next fortune cookie!
Best,
Shecky
